Chef Joanne Sheeron grew up in NYC and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology where she graduated with a degree in apparel design. She worked as a clothing designer on 7th Avenue for a number of years, but eventually a love of the restaurant scene and fine dining got the best of her. The beautiful presentations, vivid colors, flavors and aromas in all the great eateries NYC has to offer appealed to both the designer and the foodie at the same time.
She attended the New York Restaurant School in 1994, where she trained to become a chef. Upon graduating first in her class, she was hired for the opening of Restaurant Jean Georges at the Trump International Hotel. This four star experience shaped her style and taught her the skills and disciplines she carries with her today as a private chef in homes.
After that Ms Sheeron went to work at the new Asia De Cuba, Parkview at the Boathouse, Alison's on Dominick and the Russian Tea Room as a Sous Chef .
in 2000, she became the Executive Chef at Maré Seafood Restaurant in Chelsea, and brought the modest little neighborhood restaurant into the spotlight with simple, stylish presentations and a clean yet sophisticated palate.
After a successful run at Maré she went to work as a personal chef for a family of 9 on Long Island preparing nightly supper, dinner parties, pool parties and children’s parties.
In 2003 she launched Hey Ma...... What’s For Dinner????, a weekly cooking service after noticing the need for busy working neighborhood families to come home after a long day, and have easily reheatable dinners available without having to stop off, or order in from the coffee shop or Chinese take out place. Her clients have been sitting down happily and enjoying healthful, economical restaurant quality dinners together ever since!
